Art has
always been a part of my life. After
high school I earned a degree in Cytotechnology. A cytotechnologist looks for abnormal cells
under a microscope to diagnose cancer. I
wanted to be independent and earn a living.
Cytotechnology appealed to me because it is visual and helps
people. I enjoy my job but found I was
not happy with my art as a hobby.
Classes at the Memorial Art
Gallery and belonging to the Irondequoit Art Club was not enough. I went back to school and in 2004 earned a
Bachelors of Science degree in Art at Empire State College. I learned from some wonderful artist and now
feel I can call myself an artist.
My art
work and my cytology career have been working well together. I have helped to design a brochure for our
department and helped with presentations for national meetings. I have even designed a logo for our
department.
In my
artwork I like to capture a moment, express a certain feeling or mood that I
felt at that time. When others see my
artwork I hope they can feel my message.
I like to express beauty, serenity and nature. Time moves so fast and I like to slow it down
to a certain moment. I hope to always be
improving and growing in my artwork.
